The AVC is an asphalt specimen preparation tool that compacts asphalt at the same amplitude, same frequency, and same relative weight that a contractor experiences with a vibratory compactor on the roadway.
The AVC forms rectangular and cylindrical specimens of asphalt mixes that can be used in the APA. The AVC allows a user to simulate roadway compaction in the laboratory. Problems with obtaining proper densities can be identified and resolved with the AVC. Pay factors can be maximized in the laboratory prior to laydown.
